BELGRADE – VOJVODINA – NOVI SAD

Approaching … I’m online and 4.0

“The claim to longevity inherent in terracotta contrasts with the fleeting nature of my plaster pieces. My work records the changes that our society is currently experiencing due to the digital revolution, storing it in terracotta. In other words: My terracotta figures are an analogue storage media for the process of change in our society.” (From the artist statement)

The history of this work is rooted in a project the artist began for the Terra Center for Fine and Applied Arts in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, which remained unfinished due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the Road Again made it possible to fund, finish, and exhibit the project in Novi Sad, the European Capital of Culture 2022. Clay has been mined in Vojvodina for centuries. The buildings in which the Terra Center’s workshops are located today were erected during Empress Maria Theresa’s rule to create a spacious production facility for roof tiles.
